English Composition (30 marks):
Synonyms, antonyms, idioms & phrases, phrasal verbs, vocabulary test, homophones, one-word substitutions, use of appropriate and qualifying words.
General Knowledge, Current Affairs & Test of Reasoning (40 marks):
National and international current events, awards, books & authors, history, geography (with special reference to West Bengal), economy, science & technology, environment; Reasoning includes puzzles, seating arrangement, blood relations, syllogism, coding-decoding, data sufficiency, direction sense, etc.
Indian Constitution (20 marks):
Preamble, Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles, Union & State Executive, Judiciary, Amendments, Emergency Provisions, Federal Structure.
Law of Contracts & Torts (20 marks):
Indian Contract Act – essentials, offer, acceptance, consideration, breach, remedies; Specific Relief Act; General principles of torts – negligence, nuisance, defamation, vicarious liability.
Laws of Evidence (20 marks):
Indian Evidence Act – relevancy of facts, admissions, confessions, burden of proof, witness examination, presumptions, estoppel.
Civil Procedure Code (20 marks):
Jurisdiction, institution of suits, pleadings, summons, discovery, execution of decrees, appeals, inherent powers of courts.
Criminal Procedure Code & Indian Penal Code (20 marks):
CrPC – FIR, investigation, charge, trial procedures, bail, maintenance; IPC – general exceptions, offences against person and property, punishments, inchoate offences.
Personal Law (10 marks):
Basic concepts of Hindu Law (marriage, succession, maintenance) and Muslim Law.
Law of Limitation (20 marks):
Computation of period of limitation, exclusion and extension of time, effect of limitation, sufficient cause.
