SSC CHSL 2026 Syllabus

Tier-I: Computer Based Examination (200 marks, 60 minutes)

4 sections, 25 questions each, 2 marks per question. Negative marking: 0.50 per wrong answer.

1. General Intelligence (25 Qs)

  • Semantic Analogy, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Figural Analogy
  • Semantic Classification, Symbolic/Number Classification
  • Semantic Series, Number Series, Figural Series
  • Problem Solving, Word Building, Coding and Decoding
  • Numerical Operations, Symbolic Operations, Trends
  • Space Orientation, Space Visualization, Venn Diagrams
  • Drawing Inferences, Punched Hole/Pattern-Folding & Unfolding
  • Figural Pattern: Folding and Completion, Indexing, Address Matching
  • Date & City Matching, Classification of Centre Codes/Roll Numbers
  • Small & Capital Letters/Numbers Coding, Decoding and Classification

2. English Language (25 Qs)

  • Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks
  • Synonyms/Antonyms, Spelling/Detecting Mis-spelt Words
  • Idioms & Phrases, One Word Substitution
  • Improvement of Sentences, Active/Passive Voice
  • Conversion into Direct/Indirect narration
  • Shuffling of Sentence Parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a Passage
  • Cloze Passage, Comprehension Passage

3. Quantitative Aptitude (25 Qs)

  • Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions
  • Relationship between Numbers, Fundamental Arithmetic Operations
  • Percentages, Ratio & Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit & Loss
  • Discount, Mixture & Alligation, Time & Work, Time & Distance
  • Basic Algebraic Identities, Graphs of Linear Equations
  • Triangle and Circles: Properties, Mensuration, Trigonometry
  • Statistical Charts: Use of Tables and Graphs, Histogram, Frequency Polygon

4. General Awareness (25 Qs)

  • India and its neighboring countries: History, Culture, Geography, Economy, Polity
  • General Science (Class X level), Awards and Honors
  • Books and Authors, Sports, Important Events
  • Current Affairs: National and International

Tier-II: Descriptive Paper (100 marks, 60 minutes)

Paper will be either in Hindi or English. Minimum qualifying marks: 33%

  • Essay (200-250 words) — 50 marks
  • Letter/Application (150-200 words) — 50 marks

Skill Test (Qualifying)

  • DEO (Data Entry Operator): Data Entry Speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour on computer
  • LDC/JSA: Typing speed of 35 wpm (English) or 30 wpm (Hindi) on computer
