UPSC ESE (also called IES — Indian Engineering Services) recruits engineers for Group A gazetted posts under central government departments (CPWD, Railways, BRO, Defence, Power, Telecom, etc.).
ESE Junior Engineers start at Pay Level 10 (₹56,100). With DA, HRA, TA, they take home ₹85,000–₹1,10,000/month. Senior positions go up to Pay Level 14 (₹1,44,200).
Four streams: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electronics & Telecom Engineering. Each stream has a separate Paper-II in Prelims and Mains.
